All about Doctor Ben's Weathering Stain Products Ready-To-Use Weathering Stain for Wood, Plastic, Hydrocal®, Metal & Much More - 4oz Jar
For years Doctor Ben’s (aka Richard E. Bendever) has kept these versatile Weathering Stains to himself. So when that once famous—now defunct—Floquil® Flo-Stain product line stains often going for more than a $100 a bottle on eBay; Doctor Ben’s decided to test the market with first the Floquil® Driftwood and when successful, more stains would slowly begin to be offered. That has been several years now and boy have things changed! Ever since 1991 we have offered a non-petroleum replacement for the long defunct Floquil Flo-Stains© products; beginning with the Driftwood Stain that has been recommended in the manufacture of Fines Scale Miniatures kits (George Sellios) for more than forty years. Many thousands of jars of Doctor Ben's Aged Driftwood Weathering Stain have been sold with equally thousands upon thousands of satisfied customers in literally every modeling scale. Not everyone sees the "original" Floquil Driftwood as a true color representation of how they see that the color of Driftwood should be. An overwhelming number of customers have asked Doctor Ben's to consider having a 'mossy green' driftwood color. Well, even though this has happen quite by accident; once again we "Grow Our Product Line" with a Weathering Stain that many customers agree as an excellent choice. We hope that you will agree, too! So, are you like the thousands of hobbyists before you, who became tired of the costly, smelly petroleum based weathering and painting products that seemingly evaporated overnight? Do you like paying $5.00 or much more for a tiny eye-dropper bottle of these very same products? Good news for you! Doctor Ben’s has now brought to you a line of easy-to-use, environmentally-friendly, finishing and weathering stains in four ounce re-sealable jars that are Color Fast and are Ready-To-Use when you are! This product works best in conjunction with other Doctor Ben's Weathering Products as well as competitor products. We recommend trying Doctor Ben's Realistic Rust on top of Doctor Ben's Instant Age and vise versa. As we describe in our Doctor Ben's How-To #1 booklet, to create the ultimate modeling realism, consider turning your model upside down allowing gravity to pull the residue to the top of the protrusions. This way when you turn it right side up, the residue is not running down towards the bottom of the models and the effect looks just like real life.
